The Repast Baroque Ensemble – in photo, clockwise from top right: Amelia Roosevelt, violin; Sarah Stone, viola da gamba and cello; Gabe Shuford, harpsichord; and Stephanie Corwin, bassoon – will present “Storm and Solace” on Wednesday evening, October 13, starting at 7:30, in the McKinney Chapel of the First Unitarian Church, 121 Pierrepont Street (between Monroe Place and Clinton Street).
The Repast core ensemble presents music from the late Baroque, a transitional period to the Classical Era that included experimentation with musical portrayals of emotional upheaval. From the idea of Empfindsamkeit, or heightened sensitivity, to the sudden mood swings of passionate youth, this program features daring and intimate works by Schaffrath, Platti, Benda, and C.P.E. Bach.
You may purchase tickets here, or they will be available at the door if seats are available.
