Aarti is a Hindu ceremony that is celebrated in many ways, most involving lighting a small oil lamp. In one version, which will be performed at Brooklyn Bridge Park this coming Saturday, August 7, tiny lamps are placed on palm leaves and floated on water (see photo). This will happen between 4:00 and 7:30 PM at “Pebble Beach,” located in the Park’s northern section, between the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. The event is free, and no registration is required.
