Such courtesy, such professionalism, such respect

Yes, it’s kinda hard to imagine many “conservatives” getting behind a guy that calls the military “losers and suckers,” who runs up the national debt to historic levels, who undermines the rule of law and attacks career FBI officials, who cozies up to dictators left and right, who trashes environmental regulations that were a legacy of Theodore Roosevelt…I could go on. But I guess to some folks those are the marks of a good conservative.

  • Jorale-man

Holy-moly. I hope someone can get the plate numbers from the video and track this guy down.

There ought to be steel bollards at the entrances to keep cars out. Didn’t they learn anything from that incident on the West Side Highway jogging path a couple years ago?

IMO Trump’s appeal is more populist than conservative and it has a strong anti elite bias. Closer to the appeal of earlier populists like Huey Long, Robert La Follette, William Jennings Bryan and Teddy Roosevelt. We under estimate that appeal at our own peril.

God damn this person!!!! Riding a car like that down the promenade drunk is as dangerous as shooting a gun aimlessly down the promenade. Maybe worse. And this guy gets to go home the next day with a summons to Court for the future? This person needs to be off the streets, immediately. This is insanity!!!!

I agree. I think that the fact that many “conservatives” voted for him is more a reflection of the two party system we have then of their support for him. As a left leaning liberal, I can relate somewhat to that, as I would’ve voted for any of the Dem. candidates (& probably even their pet dogs) over Trump. Doesn’t mean I think each of them to be as good or even as honest. However, since Trump has proven himself to be as vile in office as many of us thought he would be when he ran 4 years ago, I think that many conservatives reconsidered who they believed to be the better of the 2 choices. Unfortunately, many didn’t. Gonna make for an interesting future.

^^^Did you get the couples permission to post these pictures? If not, it’s kind of voyeuristic, creepy.

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7nPOzGeyaw Arch Stanton

Well back in the day it was kind of justified as the there were a significant amount of muggings, etc, on the Promenade.

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7nPOzGeyaw Arch Stanton

Read the NYP article above,The driver was arrested and charged. Yes, Bollards would be a good idea.

Pretty sure that building already has a pool inside.

I’m not quite clear on what you’re describing. The muggings etc. made it necessary for them to patrol the promenade in motor vehicles?

  • Jorale-man

As the time stamps indicate here, my comment came in before the Post article was published and shared here. But glad to hear the driver was arrested.

You can thank our City Council and mayor who have yet to meet either a quality-of-life crime or a violent crime they can’t explain, sympathize with, excuse, and enable.

If so, probably baptismal, not for recreation.

You could just join, get free room and board, Of course, then you’d be joining a cult…

Public space, public proposal. Would you object to my photos of BH houses too?

Yeah I know it’s perfectly legal but a posting photos an unknown couple in an intimate life moment does not compare to buildings. Stick to the archivals.

Um yeah, It was certainly somewhat effective. Especially back in the day when the NYPD had much less resources.

My panties are calmly thinking we don’t even allow bicycles on the promenade, and just because someone has a badge doesn’t make them a trustworthy or welcome driver on a pedestrian walkway.

  • gc

Bicycle regulations are now totally ignored.
Cops cruising the Promenade at 5 mph, or better yet on foot, or on horseback (as we used to see) would be a welcome sight.
Pretty sure I saw flashing lights flying by in this incident at 40+ mph. Not the first time I’ve seen police cars flying down the Promenade. I’m sure there’s been cause but still looks totally unsafe to pedestrians in the wrong place at the wrong time.

  • Jorale-man

Agreed. You mention horseback. Maybe the cops should be driving motorbikes, like the LAPD or French gendarmerie. Or at least use one of those Smart Cars that they have in the park. Putting a Chevy Impala on the promenade walkway is just a recipe for trouble.

    Petty and argumentative…

LOL, coming from you, I’ll take it as a complement. Aside, Where’s Lou M at?
