This weekend Bargemusic presents its “Here and Now Winter Festival,” a series of three concerts, on Friday evening, January 3 at 7:00, Saturday evening, January 4 at 6:00, and Sunday afternoon, January 5 at 4:00. The program for each of these performances is the same, consisting of short pieces by contemporary composers; almost all of these are world or New York City premieres. At each concert the last piece to be played is David Taylor’s (photo) “Houdini’s Lament,” played by the composer on his bass trombone. For complete listings of the works to be played, and to purchase tickets, please follow the links above to the dates of the concerts.
Earlier on Saturday afternoon, January 5 at 2:00, Marika Bournaki will play the final of her series of recitals of the complete piano sonatas of Beethoven. Again, to see the program and to purchase tickets, please follow the link at the beginning of this paragraph.
On Saturday afternoon, January 4 at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, details here. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
After this weekend, Bargemusic will be on a winter break. We will let you know when their concerts will resume.
