Bargemusic’s weekend starts early, on Thursday evening, October 24 at 7:00 (sorry for the late notice), when pianist Bobby Mitchell (photo, © Jiyang Chen, August 2016; used with permission) presents the New York premiere of Rzewski’s “Songs of Insurrection.”
On Friday evening, October 25 at 7:00, clarinetist Thomas Piercy, along with other musicians and singers, will present “Thomas Piercy: Tokyo to New York”, a concert of short pieces by contemporary composers, some Asian and some Western. The concert includes several world premieres, one U.S. premiere, and one New York premiere.
On Saturday evening, October 26 at 6:00, the Peskanov Duo, consisting of Alexander Peskanov on piano and Lu Ann Peskanov on flute, will perform Mr. Peskanov’s own “Irish Poem”, along with works by Robert Muczynski, Charles Griffes, Otat Taktakishvili, and Claude Bolling.
Marika Bournaki returns on Sunday afternoon, October 27 at 2:00 to perform Part IX of her series of concerts presenting the complete piano sonatas of Beethoven. Later on Sunday afternoon at 4:00, violinist and Bargemusic Artistic Director Mark Peskanov, along with cellist Julian Schwarz and pianist Misha Dichter, will play works by Mozart and Brahms.
On Saturday afternoon, October 26 at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, details here. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
