What’s on your mind? Comment away!

Your comments are often contrarian and curmudgeonly. I don’t care about science and facts. If you live in this community, your only focus should be on fighting the destruction of this community. The DOT is not cutting you a check for doing their dirty work…or are they?

  • MaggieO

science and facts will be better allies in the fight than baseless accusations… people in this community are entitled to disagree on this and other issues and although i think Arch could stand to step away from the condescension and sarcasm a bit i think the “you’re a plant!” accusation is warranted.

“Your comments are often contrarian and curmudgeonly”
I’m a free thinker so yes, my outside the box perspective often clashes with the status quo.

“I don’t care about science and facts” LOL, then what possible basis are you going to form a viable argument against the DOT plan, make-believe and wishful-thinking?
How about we all just send our “Thoughts and Prayers” to the Promenade, and see how that works out…

“your only focus should be on fighting the destruction of this community”

It is. Exposing the weaknesses & flaws in potential alternative plans, forces them to become stronger or be rejected as unworkable. So far, I have not seen a viable alternative, other than the Tunnel.

If the neighborhood has any chance of winning this fight it, we, must focus on one course of action.

I didn’t notice you calling out Arch’s earlier “slander” comments.

  • MaggieO

what’s your point, gc? i’m not the open-thread police. I try to speak to what I have some experience with. In this case, having been on this board for some years, I’ve seen plenty of postings by Arch on a number of subjects, leading me to believe that it’s highly unlikely that their comments on this particular subject are motivated by an allegiance to DOT. i was inspired to respond to redlola’s post because of the “i don’t care about science and facts” statement and addressed the rest of the comment as well while I was at it.

thanks for clearing that up for me

    LOL

Wondered when we’d be hearing from the “free thinker” with the “outside the box perspective” .
    Now that’s LOL.

I would be impossible for you to insult me, don’t waste your time.

Fix the BQE one lane at a time. So it’ll take longer. It’ll take eight years to fix anyway, de Blasio’s way, and we’ll lose the Promenade and, along with it, the shops on Montague Street.

For that matter, don’t make it cantilevered. Anchor one side into the cliff, the way it is now, but install sturdy, handsome columns on the other side. From the harbor, it’ll look like an ancient Greek stoa. Good enough, and it won’t collapse 30 years from now.

  • B.

Doesn’t have to be cantilevered. Anchor the outside with sturdy columns. Then both the cliff and the columns will hold the thing up.

That’s exactly what they propose to do
