I feel like I want to start a shared document for us to record how many times streets are closed off for film shoots so we can approach the mayor’s office about it. It feels like it’s gotten ridiculous for the last few months.

Mayor’s response: “Don’t worry, once we put a highway on the promenade nobody will want to film there for a while.”

Swastika graffiti on Garden Place this morning; news picked up by everyone, print, internet and broadcast. See image here:
I see there are a couple of CCTV cameras on the garage where the swastikas were drawn. The vandal clearly wasn’t too bright.

Or they just wore a hoodie or something…

If you loved the old postcards of Brooklyn Heights that I posted here over the last few years, now’s your chance to buy your own copies.
The Metropolitan Postcard Club will have a 2-day sale on Friday and Saturday, November 2/3, at the Watson Hotel at 440 West 57th Street, Manhattan, noon-7pm Friday, 10am-5pm Saturday. It’s $7 Friday, $9 Saturday. Their website is:

Personally, I’m all bought-out on those. I could buy hundreds of Coney Island or 39 World’s Fair postcards, but you have to draw the line somewhere.
The Brooklyn Heights Association has created posters opposing the DOT plan for a 6-lane highway on the Promenade – the “Promenade Highway”, which are They free and can be found at the Brooklyn Women’s Exchange at 55 Pierrepont Street. You can pick one up for free and display on your building, etc!

There’s a brief article with several photos about the new Amy’s Bread, on Brownstoner:
So, about five hours after I posted the pictures above (just a time-stamp, not causation), Captain Adeel Rana, the executive officer of the 84th Precinct wrote, “The two individuals responsible … have been arrested by Hate Crime Task Force. We want to thank the community for their assistance. This is another example for everyone, there is no place for hate anywhere in NYC as you will be caught. We have the best Hate Crime Investigators in the world.”
According to the Daily News, Daul Moultrie, 17 (top), and Jarrick Wiltshire, 18 (bottom), “face aggravated harassment charges for scrawling the hate symbol on houses on Garden Place”.
