Subway Service Alerts: Brooklyn Heights and Vicinity

With 2 and 3 service restored this weekend (Friday evening, June 28 to Monday morning, July 2), we now have a suspension of 4 service in both directions (and, as is normal, no 5 service) this weekend. 2 and 3 trains will provide service to and from Manhattan, and 3 trains will provide service to 4 stops in Brooklyn. Also, Brooklyn bound F trains are being re-routed to E from Queens to Canal Street, and via the A/C line from Canal to Jay Street-Metro Tech. This means no service from Manhattan to York Street in DUMBO. Passengers for DUMBO may either get off at High Street and walk downhill, or take the F to Jay and transfer there to a Manhattan bound F to York. To get from the LES F stops to Brooklyn, take a Manhattan bound F to West 4th and change to a Brooklyn bound A, C. or F there.

The following work week, late evenings Monday to Tuesday July 2 to 3, and Thursday, July 5 to Friday, July 6 there will be no 2 0r 3 service in either direction at Clark Street or the 2/3 platforms at Borough Hall. The 4 will provide alternative service.

For planned service changes that may affect travel on other parts of the system, either during the weekend or the following week, and for unplanned disruptions, see MTA Info.

I luxuriated in being able to take the train at Clark Street into and back from Manhattan yesterday.

All the delayed maintenance work being done now has really messed up the straphanger’s who depend on the trains to get around.

Much of it, for example the closure of the L train, is to repair damage from tunnel flooding during Sandy.

Yes, I read that article over the weekend. Still, a nightmare for all the riders affected. When we lived in the City, in Flushing, if the 7 was not running, we had to get over to Forest Hills and jump on the IND lines.
