Bargemusic This Weekend

On Friday and Saturday evenings, January 5th and 6th at 8:00, and Sunday afternoon , January 7 at 4:00, Bargemusic will present a “Here and Now Winter Festival” of works by contemporary composers Elizabeth Brown (photo, by Peter Schaff), Scott Wheeler, David Taylor, Vera Ivanova, Nora Essman Morrow, and Russell Platt, performed by a stellar cast of musicians using both Western and Asian instruments. Programs are identical for each concert, except that the world premiere of Ms. Brown’s “Hope in One Glance” for Shamisen and Cello will be performed only at the Friday concert. On Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, co-sponsored by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
