Jazz fans are in for a treat this Friday evening, December 8, at 8:00, when, at Bargemusic:
Composer/pianist Jed Distler [photo] reimagines and reinterprets iconic jazz innovator Thelonious Monk’s complete songs in a concert length solo piano tour-de-force to celebrate Monk’s 2017 centenary.
On Saturday evening, December 9 at 8:00, and again on Sunday afternoon, December 10 at 4:00, the Semplice Players, along with Alexander Fiterstein on clarinet and Mark Peskanov on violin, will perform works by Haydn and Mozart.
There are details for each concert and you may buy tickets here. On Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, co-sponsored by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
Tickets are also now available for Bargemusic’s special concerts on Christmas Eve, featuring works by J.S. Bach, and New Year’s Eve, featuring works by J.S. Bach and by Vivaldi; more information here.
