Your correspondent blew it! Bargemusic’s Labor Day Weekend “Celebration of Women Composers by Women Performers” began this (Wednesday, August 30) evening, but will continue Friday, September 1 and Saturday, September 2 evenings at 8:00. It will feature (not all of these artists may be in the remaining two concerts, as may not works by all of the composers listed below) pianist Ursula Oppens, soprano Nancy Allen Lundy (photo), pianist Dalit Warshaw, violinist Jennifer Choi, pianist Kathleen Supové, and Yoko Reikano Kimura on shamisen. In groups or solo they will play works by Laura Kaminsky, Yoko Sato, Dalit Warshaw, Missy Mazzoli, Paola Prestini, Alexandra du Bois, Miya Masaoka, Milica Paranosic, Gity Razaz, Whitney George, Marti Epstein, Augusta Read Thomas, Nina C. On Sunday afternoon, September 3 at 2:00 and again at 4:00 violinist Mark Peskanov and pianist Jeffrey Swann will present the third in their “Tale of Two Titans” series of concerts, featuring works by Handel and Beethoven.
There are details for each concert and you may buy tickets here. On Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, co-sponsored by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
