Eileen C. Dugan (1945-1996) represented Brooklyn Heights and nearby neighborhoods in the State Assembly from 1981 until her death. She was instrumental in creating the legal groundwork for the establishment of Brooklyn Bridge Park. For the past eighteen years a five kilometer run, named in her honor, has started and ended in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
This year’s 19th Annual Eileen Dugan 5K Run will be held on Saturday, April 8, starting at 9:00 a.m. entry is limited to 400 runners. The entry fee is $40 in advance or $50 on race day, with an early bird fee of $35 for those registering on or before February 28. All runners get a T-shirt, along with pride and an endorphin high. You may register on line here.
