Montague BID Launches Winter Donation Drive On Small Business Saturday

This Saturday, November 26th is Small Business Saturday and the Montague BID is getting into the holiday spirit.  Part of their ongoing kindness campaign, the BID is encouraging residents to “skip the lines,” shop at our neighborhood stores and give back to the community with donations of new winter items including socks, gloves, hats and scarves.

Businesses will be offering special discounts, give-aways and gifts with purchase. “The holidays are a time of thanks, giving and celebration. We hope all New Yorkers will support their communities, keep it local and shop, experience and taste along Montague Street.” said Kate Chura, Executive Director, Montague Street BID.

Elves will be stationed on the corners of Montague and Clinton as well as Montague and Henry between 12-2pm. Shoppers may give their donations to them and take a free “Elfie” (selfie with an Elf).  Patrons are encouraged to share their snaps on social media using hashtags #MontagueElfies, #shopMontague and #shopsmall.

Designated donation boxes will remain in stores throughout the holiday season.  A box has also been placed in the P.S. 8 auditorium (next to the lost and found). The new items collected will benefit the children of school District 13.

“Here in District 13, we are a diverse community of families. New hats, gloves and socks will go a long way toward keeping our less fortunate families warm this winter,” said Precious Jones-Walker, District 13 Family Leadership Coordinator.

Wishing everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
