And when Airbnb guests stuff too many of themselves into a place suitable for fewer people and sometimes use the backyard as a urinal — as I happened to see while having breakfast and gazing out the window one morning — you know something’s amiss.

Unless it’s, say, the Sherry-Netherland, very few of us would choose to live next-door to a hotel.

  • Andrew Porter

I used to. It was The St. George. Then there was the Franklin Arms on Orange, the Pierrepont on Pierrepont, the Miles Standish and Margaret on Columbia Heights, the…

  • KXrVrii1

Did you ever live across the hall from an unregulated hotel?

  • B.

    Thanks, KXrVrii1.

There are hotels, and there are hotels. That was my point.

This is because POS Cuomo is in the pocket of the hotel industry who are the people behind this BS.

Yup, the newbies have no idea…

If its a half a chicken, as it should be, then yes. If its a few slices of roasted breast meat, as it probably is, than NO.

  • redlola

that;s a great pic of her

Bentley R’s are really entry level Bentleys..only people with a better level of car…our Continental SC for example, should be expressing opinions here. After all, the Heights Does have to maintain higher standards…

  • JS-1

You mean you live across from the Casino?…

  • DIBS

What is an R and a SC? There are no such models. Plus, your grammar is rather poor, speaking of standards. I can tell that since I left, they have let all sorts of vermin into BH! Respectfully.

  • DIBS

There are abuses of every system. Don’t blame the system.

  • DIBS

    Exactly.

  • DIBS

I think if the entree is advertised as roast chicken and one got served some sliced breast you’d be well within your rights to send it back. Even so, if it’s roast breast with crispy skin and good, I think I’d be willing to pay $14 for it. But it would have to be perfect!

  • Concerned

That is fantastic news. Now someone should be responsible for cleaning up all the “find Bailey” signs that were put up.

  • B.

Well I do DIBS. These are hotels with no proper permits, insurance, staff, or oversight. Owners leave the premises. There are no limits on how many people they or their guests stuff into finite spaces. There is no one to whom to appeal when goings-on become intrusive and have an adverse impact on neighbors’ quality of life.

Good hotels have staff. Vomit is cleaned, noise is regulated, toilets repaired, complaints can be made. Airbnb is a free-for-all, and too often guests are louts. Particularly in apartment buildings, things can become grim for everyone whose walls and floors and ceilings meet with those of an Airbnb space. Private homes too can suffer from proximity to badly managed hotels.

Bad enough when neighbors are bad; pretty awful when every 3-5 days new customers come trooping through.

Hey DIBS I just followed the scent of cheese to get here, like everyone else.

  • bklyn84

Yesterday CADMAN ASSOCIATES LLC filed with the DOB to demolish the current Brooklyn Heights Public Library building.

  • DIBS

    Progress.

  • Andrew Porter

No, but I’ve seen people who obviously don’t live in my building coming in, suitcase in tow. I’ve reported them to the managing company; that’s illegal in our building. And I fully understand your concerns.

  • Andrew Porter

And no comments yet from Sue?

  • DIBS

Yes, abusers of the system. Learn the difference.

  • DIBS

Also, Jack The Horse has a truly excellent half chicken.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlsiLOnWCoI Arch Stanton

    Agreed.

  • Reggie

She’s waiting for us at the courthouse.

  • B.

Sorry, it’s the system. Call illegal hotels what they are. And watch your tone. “Learn the difference” my foot.

  • clarknt67

Do the math. 134 condo units X (generously) 4 residents per unit = 536 new residents being added to a neighborhood of 20,000. No. it won’t be a noticeable addition to the neighborhood population. And no. There is no reason to believe they will be driving cars at any higher rate than the rest of the neighborhood. The building is steps away from one of the biggest expansive subway stations in the city.

  • DIBS

It’s not my fault if you don’t understand the difference.

The SC, as real Bentley owners know, is the Sedan a Coupe. What you seem to have is the older R model the choice of “less affluent” people wishing to attach to the world of better autos. As I said, when we aquire the SC, I tried to have my family buy an Azure. But that was shot down. The SC was the most, well, American looking Bentley especially the wide body model and..the 630 ft lbs of torque in the 2800 to 3200 rpm range makes it the absolute Southampton burn out king… one good thing about Bentley people, they cast new blocks (!) The manufacture new suspension parts…Bentleys will never die because of the Bentley community.

What’s driving all this Airbnb is the decline of JOBS in this region. People have to make the mortgage, the gas and
electric etc So first all of you allowed nafta, then cafta, then well, fill in the job robbing “treaties” and “regulations” so now you have a huge sector of people who have fallen out of the middle class and have to do something not to be homeless. So they do Airbnb. Airbnb is a symptom of the decline of this city and America generally….
