Subway Service Alerts: Brooklyn Heights and Vicinity

Again this weekend (Friday, September 23 at 11:45 p.m. to Monday, September 26 at 5:00 a.m.) A and C trains running in both directions will be re-routed to the F line between Jay Street-Metro Tech and West 4th Street, so there will be no service at the High Street station. For stops in Manhattan below West 4th, use the 2 (the 3 will not be running this weekend) from Clark street or Borough Hall), the 4 from Borough Hall, or the R or (late night) N from Court Street. For those traveling into Brooklyn, the 4 will make all 3 stops between Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and New Lots Avenue. Note that the elevator at the Borough Hall station will not be operating this weekend, and not until May, 2017. Also note that one of the two elevators at the Court Street R/N station is not working, and has not been for some time. Update: It was working this evening; let’s hope it continues doing so for more than a few days.

The following work week (Monday, September 26 to Friday, September 30) there are no planned changes directly affecting service at any local stations. For planned service changes that may affect travel on other parts of the system, either during the weekend or the following week, see MTA Info or The Weekender

Last Saturday night, exiting from the Clark Street subway onto Henry Street, I ran into a veritable river of tourists walking south, apparently all headed back to Manhattan after possibly walking over on the bridge, or maybe coming up from Dumbo.

It gave me a real feeling for how tourists are reshaping this area.
