Plymouth Underground Thrift Store Returns This Weekend

After a summer hiatus, the thrift store at Plymouth Church re-opens this summer, on Sunday, September 11 at 12:30 pm.

Plymouth photoStocked with fall clothing, designer, and vintage bargains for women, men, and children, the thrift store is open every Sunday from 12:30 to 4:00 pm.

 From Plymouth:

Following a rush of summer donations, our clothing racks and shelves are overflowing with bargains for all ages.  Clothing for women, men and children abounds, along with shoes, handbags, scarves and jewelry.  Children’s books and bric-a-brac can also be found in the Thrift Store.

Shoppers can access the store, which is located at 65 Hicks Street between Orange and Cranberry Streets, through Plymouth Church’s  gymnasium and then head up one flight of stairs. Credit cards are accepted for purchases over $20.

The Underground Thrift donates 25% of its net proceeds to organizations that fight human trafficking and modern-day slavery. The recipient for the 2015-2016 fiscal year is Restore NYC, whose mission is “to end sex trafficking in New York and restore the well-being and independence of foreign national survivors.”

The Underground Thrift accepts donations of gently used clothing, which can be dropped off on Sundays at the shop or during the week at Plymouth Church (75 Hicks St.). The shop is also looking for volunteers to help sort and hang merchandise, clerk in the store and to post updates on social media.

Stopped by on Sunday. Picked up a few items for cheap, but was VERY disappointed that this so-called “underground” store was on the second floor. For shame.
