Bargemusic begins its weekend series of concerts with one on Friday evening, August 12 at 8:00 that features music from the baroque, romantic, modern, and contemporary canons, including works by Bach, Arvo Pärt, Hindemith, Dvořák, and Mendelssohn, performed by cellist Edward Arron and his wife, pianist Jeewon Park (photo of both by Hak-Soo Kim). On Saturday evening, August 13 at 8:00 and again on Sunday afternoon, august 14 at 4:00, the Manhattan Symphonie, under the direction of Gregory Singer and featuring violinist Mark Peskanov, cellist Robert deMaine, and pianist Alexander Peskanov playing works by Vivaldi and Beethoven. Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, co-sponsored by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
