Go For Baroque, and Swing Like an 18th Century Parisian, at First Unitarian This Friday

This Friday evening, September 18 at 8:00, at the Chapel at First Unitarian Church, 116 Pierrepont Street (concert venue fully accessible), the Repast Baroque Ensemble (photo) will present “Savages in the Salons: Music from Paris in the Raging 1830s.”

Repast presents a program of music by Rameau and his circle (including Telemann and Leclair) from the salons and theaters of High Baroque Paris. The program title takes its name from the Parisian fascination with the exotic: Rameau’s opera about “Gallant Indians” featured scenes with North American Indians as well as Incas, Turks, and Persians.

Tickets are $25; or $15 for seniors or students. There’s a complementary meet-the-artists reception afterward. Reserve tickets here, or by calling 1-800-838-3006. You may also buy tickets at the door.
