Family of 3-Month-Old Karl Towndrow Receive Outpouring of Support As Investigation Continues

The parents of three-month-old Karl Towndrow, who passed away at a SOHO day care last week, has received an outpouring of financial support. The GoFundMe memorial page, “Remembering Karl Towndrow” has raised over sixty thousand dollars in seven days. The campaign’s founder, Jen Carlson, posted this message of gratitude:

“Thank you all so much for your support. The response to this campaign — which was set up for Amber and Lee’s family, friends and colleagues to help — has been overwhelming. This support will help them pay for funeral and memorial costs, hospital bills, missed work days and other unexpected expenses from this tragedy. They are incredibly grateful for your lovely generosity, and for having shown them how many good people there are out there who just want to help.”

ABC 7 Eyewitness News reported on Friday that in the wake of this tragedy the Department of Health “has decided to form a new unit dedicated solely to investigating allegations of child safety threats, including finding and closing down any illegally operated day cares.”  DNA.info has reported additional details of the new five-person unit and the status of the on-going investigation.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences remain with the Towndrow family.

I am still curious about how much money was raised for Homer Fink’s daughter, following his sudden death. Has anything been posted, anywhere?
