Tomorrow (Monday, May 4) evening, starting at 6:30, the Brooklyn Historical Society will present, as part of its “Movie Mondays” series a screening of the 1976 Academy Award winning documentary Harlan County USA. The feature will be preceded by some short documentary films, focusing on social activism, by the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective. Admission is free, but you must reserve tickets here.
On Thursday evening, May 7, starting at 6:30, as part of the “Community Conversations” series, there will be a panel discussion on “Haitians in Brooklyn.” Panelists will include Haitian-Americans prominent in politics, journalism, public service, and other fields.
