Farewell, Atlantic Avenue’s Moxie Spot

Pour one out for the Moxie Spot (81 Atlantic Avenue). Nat Rubin, the owner of the 6 1/2 year old “fun spot” for kids has posted a notice on the venue’s door announcing that it will close on December 14th.

The note reads:

SAD NEWS
The Moxie Spot is Closing
Our last day will be Sunday, December 14th

I would like to thank all the kids and grown ups who have come here over the last 7 years. It has been very special for us to coo and Serve food, dance, Sing, read and play with you. We hope you have happy, long lasting memories of your visits here.

The Movie Spot has been a challenging and fun business. But, there is no longer enough money to keep it open.

I am ery grateful to have been able to create and run this restaurant. It was a dream of mine, and I wish it could last forever. Sharing birthday parties, Singalongs, dance arounds, story times, Wii, bingo and/or disco nights with all of the beautiful laughing (or crying) children and their families will always be in my and my staff’s hearts.

Love, Nat

We covered Moxie Spot when it opened and our “kid correspondents” said they liked it.

Thank you Moxie. Businesses based on 24/7 passion and caring make communities truly genuine. Energy and money run out, but the important thing is that Moxie happened and flourished and was loved. Happy trails.

This is most depressing news. We had a lovely fourth birthday party for our son there in 2012. Nat’s given so many kids and parents so much joy over the years. I wish him the best.

Dear Nat was a student of mine, back in the day, and I was thrilled with his “Moxie Spot” adventure. I am so sad that it had to close.
