Well, maybe this is an opportunity for the community to help the managers of one of our the Court Street Starbucks with a slight problem. According to a tweet from Crains New York writer Andrew J. Hawkins, they’re looking for ways to stop customers from having sex in the bathroom.

This is the store on Montague, not on Court, right?

They can get free condoms at the Housing Works Thrift Store on Montague.

Court Street yes with photo of the old Montague Street store #toolazytotakenewone

    Is PumpkinSpiceLatte an aphrodisiac?

  • GHB

Well, the bathrooms ARE cleaner than McDonald’s!

  • Gersh Kuntzman

This story is badly focused. Why are we trying to stop people from having sex? Homer Fink is a prude!

  • DoBro84

Sounds to me like the pendulum has simply swung back once again. When we first bought on Schermerhorn in 1984 there was a XXX movie theater down the block on Court. Add in some property value appreciation, probably some viagara and who is really surprised.

When I ordered a tall blond I did mean coffee.

  • BrooklynBugle

Well we saw it more of a challenge to help the Starbucks management with a… customer relations issue.

I get that caramel macchiato in me and I need to get my hump on…

Why is the Starbucks on Court Street “in Brooklyn Heights”? This is like saying Checker’s is in (or of) Brooklyn Heights…

So there is disgusting behavior in a location on Court Street? I wonder why that is?

Work for Some law firms who have HAD to have contact with the ” legal community” on Court Street and you’d witness some REALLY
    Terrible behavior…..

  • Jorale-man

Now that explains the long line I always see at the Court Street Starbucks…

  • Teresa

Embarrassing stereotyping. Variety of people are customers, including many from local academic institutions.

  • Former Schermerhorn gal

Before Schermerhorn there was also pandora books…I used to tell people to turn after the dirty book store and before the dirty movie theater!

  • ColumbiaHeightster

It’s “in Brooklyn Heights” because it is physically located within the boundaries of Brooklyn Heights. Sorry that you don’t feel like that less than perfect block doesn’t belong in our neighborhood, but our neighborhood consists of all of its parts, not just the ones you like.

  • David on Middagh

If the first floor layout is as I remember, an entrance on the side street leads directly to the restrooms; trysters wouldn’t have to use the front door. Maybe place a sign on that side entrance with words to the effect of, “This entrance and hallway is under video surveillance.”

No, it’s 100% accuracy to observe that
    1) both the demography and the “culture”
Of court street has little to do with the
Culture and the social level of the
    Heights. And

    2) The downtown area has a long and
    Odious history of disgusting behavior
Just look at the history of arrests for
    What kinds of misbehavior..It’s all
    A matter of record.

  • cindy sm

And Checkers is a cultural and social part
    Of the Heights.
    Sure enough……besides the one world
Bananas thinking I hear from some
People now you get a kind of pan down
town ism which states that we are all a part of the diverse downtown community

The DSM should have a code for this
    Kind of disordered (non) thinking.

we’re all a part of a diverse social
Fabric? Really? Well what if I don’t
Want to blend in and what if I want to live.
In the culture which I and my type of
People created and I feel I belong?

  • cindy sm

Oh by the way, what about the amount
Of abuse of women on darling Court Street? You’ve Never seen any unwanted
    Verbal or physical contact incidents?
How about the kids at Noon or after
    School treatment of female classmates
Or just women passing by? Nothing
    Like that ever goes on?

Popeye ‘ s and the behavior in front is a true cultural part of the Heights….

  • David on Middagh

    “Pan-downtownism”!

  • AEB

    …now and forever!

  • Justine Swartz

Perhaps free samples of Saltpeter Latte should be offered?

  • CHatter

Obviously that is not where you live. Nor did you and your “type” of people (whoever they are) create anything on their own. If you “feel you belong” elsewhere, then go elsewhere.

    I’ll take a lefty cappuccino.

They should charge the ‘patrons’ a fee. How about a key/lock meter with a 5-minute max? Be sure to kick-up 30% to former City Councilman Ken Fisher.

  • Boerum Bill

Well, you’d never see such shenanigans at the Smith St. location.

  • DIBS

    Hetero sex or gay sex????

  • ColumbiaHeightster

Your comments make no sense. The Starbucks is within the Court Street and Atlantic Avenue borders of the Heights. It IS Brooklyn Heights, whether you want it to be or not. Fact.

  • cindy sm

The entire History of the Heights IS
    Creation and contribution..of positive
    Institutions and effects for society.

And given your remark on not creating anything, The contributions of the Heights are in stark contrast with many “communities” surround the
Heights who’s “contributions” have been some of the Worst violent crime
And drug conditions in the nation.
The record is very clear on this….

  • cindy sm

Again, the cultural and social life of the Heights and the core demographics
Which make the Heights what it is basically cease at Clinton Street
With the exception of the south
Heights streets in which it DOES
    extend to Court Street…but stops
Dead at the edge of Court. Anyone who really thinks that what is ON
Court Street is a real part of the Heights deserves a. Coding in the
    DSM This is simply disordered
Thinking which has NO basis in
    Observable reality….

  • cindy sm

Crude disgusting behavior especiality towards women has long been the watchword of the area’s surrounding the Heights. The above three comments
Are typical of the “level” there.

Oh by the way, in all the “considerations”
Here god’s notice there’s no thought
About what the effect (s) on any women or children there
    ..
