This will be another busy weekend, with the DUMBO Arts Festival starting tomorrow (Friday, September 26) and running through Sunday, September 28; the Atlantic Antic, celebrating its 40th year, on Sunday; and, as reader Reggie reminds us, also on Sunday the 21st Annual Bus Festival. This is also your last weekend to view Photoville. (Photoville is closed today, Thursday, September 25, because of inclement weather).
Bargemusic has a full schedule of concerts this weekend, beginning tomorrow (Friday) evening at 8:00 with the first of two concerts (the second will be on Friday, October 17) presenting the complete string quartets of Béla Bartók (photo; Wikipedia; public domain) by the Chiara String Quartet. On Saturday evening at 8:00 cellist Colin Carr and pianist Thomas Sauer will perform works by Mendelssohn, Debussy, Thomas Adès, and Beethoven. On Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pianists Michael Brown and Adam Golka will perform works by Kurtag, Bach, Schubert, Debussy, and Grieg. There’s more information and buy tickets here. Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
