Lemi, the Brooklyn Heights parakeet who literally flew the coup last weekend is back home – safe and sound.
She’d been spotted on Flatbush Avenue, and more recently on the tennis court at Fort Greene Park. Now, word comes via Instagram that she’s A-OK:
AMAZING news: Lemi was retuned home tonight! She’s back w her family after a journey down Flatbush w some sparrows, and brief, friendly captivity w a knowledgable bird lady. She’s thinner, says her family, but “so so happy” to be home.
Lemi’s owner texted BHB last night and tells us:
Lemi came home tonight. A wonderful couple in Prospect Heights found her on the corner of Flatbush and Sterling Pl last Monday, trying to find food with a sparrow next to her. After the tip of the instagram sighting last night I renewed my search and found a “found” parakeet ad on 911parrots.com. Turned out to be her (I could not believe it when they confirmed that the code on her foot band was correct). Just picked her up. We are stunned and so happy for all help and support we have received.
