Has anyone else noticed the huge pile of dirt in Brooklyn Bridge Park just south of 360 Furman Street, near Pier 6? Are more hi-rise condos about to be built inside of a NY City Park?

You have to understand that M/O is entitled to let her dog go anywhere at anytime despite rules or personal consideration.
Still Here
Not ‘about to be built’ but the BBP Development Corp will issue RFPs for these sites, as planned, sometime this summer.

Note that the video footage that the News 12 chopper took of the traffic jam while hovering for an hour-ish over our neighborhood may not be seen on their site unless you log in with credentials from a “Comcast®, Time Warner® and Service ElectricSM” account that receives News 12.
That is, this is pay-to-play, at our expense.

Oh, Regina, what have you done this time, sugar?
Calling all hungry lawyers – here comes your payday from all the current 1 BBP south-facing condo owners.

Now if they’ll move the ones in front of 10 Clinton

It’s going to be a RiteAid. We asked the guys doing the construction. The rumor we’ve heard in the building is that RiteAid is going to close the one on Montague and just move to Clinton/Joralemon. Which begs the question, what will go in on Montague?!
Jorale-man
Ugh. You’d think the neighborhood has reached its saturation point with drug stores by now. Not that I was holding out much hope for a nice grocery store or coffee shop there. On the other hand, the Rite Aid on Montague is pretty grimy and tired so at least that will be replaced.
Eddyde
It was removed temporally due to construction work across the street.

Perhaps, you’d have a different opinion if you were playing ball on the field and got some dog pooh smeared on your hands and face. Then again, maybe not, I can imagine you might like that sort of thing.

The former framing and pumpkin-carving shop on Cranberry between Hicks and Willow is being renovated, but the workers didn’t speak English, so I have no idea what’s going in there. Anyone know?

On the bright and sunny Thursday afternoon I walked down to Brooklyn Bridge Park. They’re pouring concrete on the condos, and have done the basement and pillars and floor for the first floor, while the southern section is still raw earth. At least the noise from the pile drivers seems to be ended.

I heard that it will be an extension of Jack the Horse

What is up with the Regal Theatre on Court Street? Tried to watch a movie there and had to leave because the crowd is so noisy. That’s happen both times I’ve been there. Is this known as a lousy theatre among the locals?
David on Middagh
When I had in-town guests who wanted to see Spielberg’s “A.I.” and some ridiculous Stephen King alien-encounter flick, the crowd was fine, but I’ve heard it can get boisterous. The ticket-taker was a jerk.
Try to use our beloved twinplex, Heights Cinema (Henry St.), or Cobble Hill Cinemas (Court St.)

This theater is easily the worst I’ve been to in the city. I’ve been there when people answer their cell phones during the movie and actually have a full conversation. Routinely there are parents who bring their inappropriately aged children to movies (young kids to late movies or content wise inappropriate) and have been there when fights have broken out and managers had to escort people out of the theater. I stay far away from that theater.

Has anyone been frustrated & inconvenienced by the lack of toilet facilities at Fascati Pizza, 80 Henry street. When I asked If I could use one I was told they had none & when I asked where they went the manager said ‘in there pants’. A real wise guy. Surely, parents with children have need of such a basic amenity. Since I’ve been going there for decades I know full well they have one & blackboarded it up a few years ago. I for one will be ‘boycotting’ the premises until they provide this simple request and I invite others to join me if they agree with my views. I don’t know if the same family owns it but they would be schocked at how the customers are being treated nowadays.

If Fascati’s has 20 or more seats, they almost surely are required to provide a restroom. But I think they may be under that?
