The witch hazel in the tubs in front of 111 Hicks Street is also coming into bloom.

Gotta get the old, now brown, greens out of the window boxes. Except the soil is still frozen! Grrr!

    crocAE…….love it

Since crocus has the masculine -us suffix, shouldn’t the Latin plural be croci?

At what date should BH people who still have Christmas decorations hanging on their doors or setting in their window boxes get fined? Easter? Or April Fools Day?

  • ClaudeScales

I added the parenthetical in the top post in response to Ms Leirer’s comment.

I’ve been wondering about that, too. A Mississippi native who was a friend of my parents once warned them that we had to have our Christmas decor down by New Year’s Day, or our cotton would rot in the fields.

    Arrighty.

Although I remove the red bow, I like to keep my wreath on the door as long as it is alive and the weather is cold. It gives me a cheery feeling when I enter my home. I believe that in the Church (Episcopal) there is such a thing as Candlemas Day? (someone please help me out here) when decorations should be removed.
Well, I guess my egg wreath will be going up soon!! ;-D

I looked it up Johnny! Candlemas is Feb 2nd.
