LICH Proposals to be Presented to Public Tuesday Evening at St. Francis

The Eagle reports that the nine proposals to take over the Long Island College Hospital campus submitted by the March 19 deadline, four of which would continue LICH as a full service hospital, will be presented to the public on Tuesday evening, March 25, from 6:00 to 8:00, at St. Francis College Auditorium, 180 Remsen Street. The proposals can also be viewed here. The forum at St. Francis is sponsored by several community organizations, including the Brooklyn Heights Association and the Cobble Hill Association.

Proposals posted on SUNY website for public review but too many pages are blacked out including details on real estate plans. Over 300 pages of Fortis NYU plan are blacked out. Most bidders are hiding the fact that they will build massive #s of units. Only 1 bidder mentioned they plan 1000 units. Several other bidders plan the same #s & just haven’t disclosed it. Northshore LIJ even blacked out the price they are offering to pay. How is this “transparency”?

The 6 community groups invited the LICH bidders to join the meeting, but SUNY refused to allow them to attend and comment to the public. Something smells funny in SUNY land. Fear or common sense?

Please come hear and learn about the bidders, and join the discussions at 6PM tomorrow in St. Francis College’s auditorium. Some doctors from LICH will be present, and so will our amazing lawyer and local resident Jim Walden, and some of our local politicians.

The next steps in the process of getting a real full-service hospital at LICH will be disclosed and planned. Bring your concerns to the meeting.
