Last Minute Weekend Suggestions: Brooklyn Heights and Nearby

Don’t forget Theater 2020’s production of “A Radio Christmas Carol” starting at 3:00 p.m. (doors open at 2:30) this Saturday, December 21, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 19 Sidney Place. This is “Charles Dickens’ Christmas classic performed as a radio play, complete with Foley artist sound effects.” Your correspondent attended last year’s performance, and attests that it was delightful. Admission is a suggested donation of $20, but no one will be turned away.

The Brooklyn Heights Cinema will be showing All Is Lost, 12 Years a Slave, and, starting Friday, Nebraska, starring Bruce Dern, whom your correspondent remembers fondly as Big Bob Freelander in Smile. On Sunday at noon there will be a special kids’ movie, Rango, starring Johnny Depp. More information and showtimes here.

Bargemusic has no concerts scheduled this weekend, but will have a Christmas Eve Celebration at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24, featuring Bach’s “Goldberg Variations” performed on piano by Steven Beck. More information and buy tickets here.
