Thug Beats Heights Man

The Brooklyn Papers Police Blotter reports a December 26 incident in this week's edition:

department-patch-i.jpgA man breaking into a Jeep on Clinton Street turned his violence on a Brooklyn Heights man walking home on Dec. 26, cops said, but still ended up empty-handed.

As the 54-year-old victim neared the corner of Aitken Place around 11:15 pm, he saw two strangers standing near ared Jeep with bags of bottles ontheir shoulders. A woman stood near the driver’s side, and a man peered through the passenger-side window — and suddenly broke the glass.

At that point, the thug turned around and report beat the  man with a "metal object", injuring his jaw.  Cops are searching for a 30 year old, 6 foot 1", 190 pound black man.

The paper adds the police suspect that the thug and his moll may also have been involved in an robbery earlier that evening on Livingston Street.  In that crime, a young couple were robbed of $150 from a skell wielding a 9mm pistol and matching a similar description.

If you have any information that can help the 84th Precinct send these anti-social crooks to the slammer, call 1-800-577-TIPS.

I always see a man and woman roaming our neighborhood wrecking everyone\’s garbage looking for cans and bottles. Guess these people aren\’t the harmless homeless we thought they were. NYPD should crack down on those scavengers and there are many in the Heights.

a couple times from my stoop’s eye view i’ve seen obvious cases of people trolling through the clinton / henry / atlantic / joralemon area in search of cars to smash into … i have an old beater out there and my advice is … make sure it’s obvious to all crackheads there’s nothing in there!

I live right on the corner of Clinton and Aitken Place, and my mother’s car was broken into when she was parked on Aitken Place last year.
