The A train’s “A” may be white, but for us it might as well be scarlet. Once again this weekend (12:01 a.m. Saturday, October 5 to 4:45 a.m. Monday, October 7) A trains will not be running between Euclid Avenue and Howard Beach or Lefferts Avenue, so to get to or from the Air Train serving JFK you’ll have to transfer between the A and the J at Broadway Junction and between the J and the Air Train at Sutphin Boulevard/Archer Avenue-JFK. Click on the “No trains between…” link for more details here. We’re told this is the last weekend we’ll have this problem. The following week, late at night (11:45 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) starting Monday night, October 7 and continuing each night, ending Friday morning, October 11, Manhattan bound A trains will be diverted to the F line between Jay Street-Metro Tech in Brooklyn and West 4th Street in Manhattan. This means no Manhattan bound service at High Street (the C train doesn’t run during those hours), so those widhing to get from the North Heights to Manhattan late at night will need to walk down to the York Street station in DUMBO or catch a Brooklyn bound A at High Street and change to a Manhattan bound train at Jay, the next stop.
Apart from these, and from the continuing R train problem, there are no planned cancellations, route changes, or skipped stations directly affecting service at any local stations. For planned service changes that may affect travel on other parts of the system, see MTA Info or The Weekender.
