The New York Daily News runs a story today about the “guns of the Stone Age” – baseball bats – and their use as peacemakers behind that bar at some of New York’s most popular watering holes. That’s not the case at the Atlantic Avenue’s Roebling Inn. Owner Jason Furlani, a nice guy with imposing presence who has played bad guys and cops in many movies and TV shows, tells the paper:
NYDN: “The worst thing you could do, ever, is have any type of weapon at the bar,” says Jason Furlani, manager of Brooklyn Heights’ Roebling Inn. “If one of my bartenders is a 5-foot-4 woman and some guy takes it from her, I’ve just given someone a weapon. The best defense for a bartender to have is the bar itself. It’s a barrier.”
