This Saturday, June 15, from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. at the Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn Heights Branch, 280 Cadman Plaza West, there will be a “Kids for Libraries” rally. The event will feature:
Raging Grannies and Reverend Billy’s Church of the Stop Shopping Gospel Choir, balloons and buttons for the kids, Justine the Juggler will entertain and Mariasarah Alcof will read to the kids. There will be a poetry slam.
Sponsored by Citizens Defending Libraries and Lynn’s Kids International
Lynn Rosen will be writing a children’s book in support of the libraries and to help stop the sell off our libraries. Lynn will be at the event to meet the kids and interview them for her book.
The purpose of this rally is to oppose the sale of the Brooklyn Heights Branch to a developer who would replace it with a smaller facility inside a much larger apartment building; as well as the threatened destruction of other public libraries in Brooklyn and elsewhere in the city.
