I would recommend Dr. Rory Cohen, inside of Macy’s on the sixth floor. He also had other good associates.

I wanted to put out there that The ArborWeCare Agency at 25 Elm Place, some of the caseworkers need to be better educated as to what there rules are when you have to go to their vocational training program. Last week I was told you either go to classes for as long as it takes or your Public Assistance benefits will be cut off. So I went back today to a different counselor, with my notarlized letters showing that I do work part-time hours and am willing to be flexible. So today I learned from her that I can be fast tracked thru the initial orientation and tests and could go to a school that would work with my schedule. I was so upset last week by the lack of information given to me and the cold response I was getting. We are already suffering by having lost a job, then having to apply for PA, we don’t need to be treated so badly. There are some good ones there, it’s a shame they all couldn’t be more helpful and hopeful in an economy that is already working against us.

We need to move ASAP, Craigslist posting, $2995 / 2br – Charming Garden Ground Floor Apartment (Brooklyn Heights).

With a new baby, we ran out of space quicker than we had expected to, we found a new place and would like to try and get or current place rented ASAP, we are moving out on Saturday. The landlord put the apartment up two days ago and there has been no action. I would call it a large 1 bed only draw back we found was no onsite laundry, other than that we have had a wonderful time there.

What’s up with the toilet bowl outside of Prominent Car Service (next to Siggy’s) that’s been fashioned into a combination planter and cigarette butt depository? What’s BHA’s and Landmark’s position on this?

The MTA is currently proposing many cuts that will directly affect Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo — such as the fact that the booth in the High St./Adams St. subway station will be unstaffed; and, some of our local bus lines will be cut entirely, or reduced tremendously in terms of service. If one cares, it’s a good time to contact local politicians and the MTA.

Has anyone seen this link today? Anyone know if they are planning to kill service at the station in any way?

One or more of the proposals for service reductions would completely eliminate M service through the Montague St. tunnel into South Brooklyn.

What’s with the dead block of stores on Atlantic Ave opposite the YMCA? The dry cleaner posted a closing notice, which will bring 4 empty/closed storefronts on that 1 block between Court and Boerum. So much for the Trader Joe effect.

there’s not been a single interesting store/restaurant on the aforementioned stretch, perhaps ever. It would be a great opportunity for a biz owner.

A bulldozer is tearing up the pavement behind the pop up park today (1/30/09). Park progress? Good to see work going on there. There are also a few backhoes parked there.

That’s the BUSY CHEF effect, not the TJ’s effect.

I e-mailed info on the potential closing of the R train entrance at Clinton and Montague to various people, including Homer, a couple of weeks ago but this is the first time I think it’s been mentioned here. The story already ran in the Eagle, I believe.

Homer, I had good results from the Podiatrist at the corner of Clark and Henry, in the building with the sidewalk shed. Michael J. Trepal, dpm, 115 Henry Street, (718) 624-8022.
