Tomorrow (Saturday, June 1) from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 28 shops along Atlantic Avenue, from Columbia Street to 4th Avenue, will participate in the first Atlantic Avenue Wedding Extravaganza, sponsored by the Atlantic Avenue Business Improvement District.
The all-day event will feature walking tours and merchant discounts including dozens of the area’s wedding-related shops, salons, and venues, plus two mock wedding ceremonies, a puppy wedding costume contest, an entertainment showcase, and more.
On the Wedding Walking Tour, armed with a pass book full of coupons from most of the venues on the tour, they’ll be able to shop for gowns and lingerie, flowers, jewelry, photographers, hair and nail stylists, gift registries, cake bakers, and venues for bachelor and bachelorette parties, the rehearsal dinner, and the reception. They’ll even get to scope out their first home at a real estate agency and go shopping for kids’ clothes.
An outdoor fashion show will showcase the full range of wedding fashions that can be found on Atlantic Avenue, from bridal gowns and bridesmaids’ dresses to attire for the well-dressed guest. For a lighthearted interval, dog owners will parade pooches dressed in doggie gowns and tuxes at the Adam Yauch Playground for a Puppy Wedding Costume Contest.
A pair of mock wedding ceremonies, free and open to all, will show how all the options can come together. Two couples – a man and a woman, and two women – will walk down the aisle at Roulette, a stunning art-deco performance space and event rental venue.
