Karl: “Be Careful What You Wish For”

Karl discovers the bike parked and chained on the Middagh Street sidewalk, featured in his previous video, has been moved…to his side of the street. He also takes a look at some new and almost new construction in the Heights. Video after the jump.

Ironically, in photos of Nabeguy’s house from the mid-1800s, the stairway was also projecting out from the stoop directly to the sidewalk. I have no idea when it was moved to its angled position. Perhaps when the hedge, now history, was planted.

Maybe a deep-red seat cover for the peripatetic bicycle would improve its presentation?

A friendly caution from a fellow bicyclist to the owner: I’ve known more than one bike to end up parts-stripped after having been locked to that very signpost for weeks on end. The graffitied buildings behind and facing testify that, unfortunately, miscreants feel safe performing their miscreancy at that spot.

Mid 1800s photos? Please share. Earliest I’ve seen are usually 1890s, and the bulk are 1920s armbruster, 1930s Abbott or 1940 tax photos.
