    Wow, way to go. Congratulations.

hey, where’d the hair come from?!

  • Eddie Krawler

My significant other watches Girls and I have seen the show as well. Lena Dunham is fat, frumpy and dumpy with bad tattoos and worst not of all not very funny. If I am going to watch a fat, frumpy and dumpy broad on TV she should at least be funny. Otherwise, give me the attractive woman.

  • Mr. Crusty

I’m sure your significant other would be quite proud of your comments Eddie Krawler.

  • Alanna

Good to know Eddie Krawler is not in charge of casting…or professionally judging the merit of any TV show or actress/actor. Braniac!

Also, does Lena still live in the Hicks St. apt featured on this blog over the summer? I jog past that building frequently and often wonder (have not seen her yet!)

  • WillowNabe

I wonder how long Lena will continue to live in her one bedroom apartment? She’s on fire. Her picture is everywhere these days and after last night’s win, she could buy her own brownstone if she chooses.
Don’t you just love it when someone pop’s up on the BHB whose never been heard from before and makes ridiculous comments about a gifted, talented young lady?

  • Boerum Bill

Krawler (appropriate name) probably keeps a bunch of Baywatch episodes on VHS in his sock drawer.

With the overweight population of the United States over 74% “fat, frumpy and dumpy” is the new sexy.

  • Brooklyn Girl

She is still in the nabe, and is a true talent. The actor that plays Adam is also in the Heights (on WIllow St., I believe) as is the Brit. The show is not “comedy” per se, though there are very funny things in it. I am guessing, Krawler, that you don’t really understand it.

  • Mr. Crusty

I think Krawler’s understanding beyond T&A is somewhat limited..

  • Jorale-man

@Arch makes a good point. I’m not a big fan of the show personally (nor am I the target demographic). But I can see why female viewers like to see people who look more like themselves as opposed to a skinny, glamorous model type.

I’m curious too if she’s really a resident here or has mansions in the Hamptons and Palm Beach where spends most of her time now.

  • bagel boy

Sorry but the show is like circa late 70s porkys for gender confused young women and maybe men. I guess tv has come to people having serious conversations while sitting on the bowl. Wiping up. In the tub. Blah blah. Since when does a man walk in to the womans bathroom and have a little talk even though he isn’t dating her. . Its kind of a lame and vulgar show. And it is certainly not funny or entertaining. Basically a curious side show of losers and freaks.

  • WillowNabe

    bagel boy,
Well, the “losers and freaks” as you call them are laughing all
    the way to the bank!
Oh, and let us know when you win your first Golden Globe!

  • bagel boy

The cast of jersey shore are all the way to the bank too. Doesn’t mean it was a good show. It appeals to the lowest common denominator of society. Sex, toilet, nudity, drugs, laziness. Just because Lena looks butch and isn’t afraid to show her naked body, the critics like her. Double standard. No ?

  • willowl

i’m 25, i’m their target audience, i love it. I love her. end of story.it’s not supposed to be a comedy. it’s very relatable.. and it’s great acting.

  • GHB

I’m way outside of the Girls demographic, but I can see that in Lena Dunham, a major new talent is here. Looking forward to seeing how her career plays out. I don’t like that the show is being pegged as a comedy, because it’s much more than that. (I also don’t get why Silver Linings Playbook (a movie I loved) is also being called a comedy, but that’s another thread… Congratulations, Lena!

  • Mr. Crusty

Bagel boy while Jersey Shores may be popular they never received any critical accolades that I am aware of. For you to conflate the two shows just demonstrates your ignorance. Also if you think the show is like Porky’s and just about sex, nudity, toilet, drugs and laziness then you are just revealing how utterly clueless you are. I couldn’t think of two projects that are more different. You obviously don’t “get” the show. Fine. But the ignorant trashing of a show that have won critical acclaim is just silly.

Congratulations to Lena on her well deserved honors.

Crusty, you need to take a course in reading comprehension, it might help you look less of a fool.

  • Mr. Crusty

Why Arch, what have I gotten wrong? Educate me.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlsiLOnWCoI Arch Stanton

Oh Crusty, I am not going to waste my time. You probably won’t be able to comprehend what I have to say, anyway. You will likely just misconstrue my words or make up some fanciful meaning you pull out of the ether. When I see an improvement in your cognitive abilities, I will be happy to address this or any other issue. Till then…

  • Mr. Crusty

That’s what I thought Archy, you don’t have a clue. Lol.

  • Still Here

I watched the first couple of episodes and thought it was well crafted, good cast, clever, funny, insightful (for me) and aimed right at her audience, I guess – unfortunately, not at me. And in all fairness I am distracted by all the other shows I watch regularly. HMMM …..why do I relate so much to meth criminals, the British class war, the advertising of the 60’s, medieval Soprano’s, vile bootleggers, and psycho-dramatic CIA and Islamo-terrorist agents……but…..not this youthful crowd of interesting young women from my own neighbourhood? Go figure. Probably no room left to crawl into another series…..will catch them on the rebound.
Anyway, I say, well done Lena! She is brilliant to have created herself and a successful show.

  • Mr. Crusty

Still there, it seems our tastes in TV viewing are almost identical

    Breaking Bad
    Downtown Abby
    Mad Men
    Game of Thrones
    Boardwalk Empire
    Homeland

I think those are my favorite shows as well. Well written, well acted, and intelligent each and every one.

  • Robert Moses

Lena will be played out in a couple of years — one trick pony, I’d say (check out her flick “Tiny Furniture” on Netflix, it’s the same thing). Millennials have their own un-“Sex and the City” but don’t think the characters will sustain viewers’ interest much longer.

Wish HBO would revive “Bored to Death” instead…

  • Wiley E.

So many jealous people out there. Are you insecure? Anyway, some of us are just getting old. Accept it.

  • God Almighty

    willowl “it’s very relatable”

Does that mean you’re a frumpy dumpy slut?

  • Wiley E.

I thought George Burns was dead. God Almighty.

  • God Almighty

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, without frumpy dumpy sluts I would never get laid.

  • WillowNabe

    Robert Moses,
I am sure that Lena Dunham will move on to other things in the future. That’s what intelligent gifted talented people do!
    Why would you assume otherwise?

  • Winston Smith
