Something’s Brewing At Long-Deserted Downstairs Space At 132 Montague Street

Activity is burgeoning at the long-empty retail space at 132 Montague Street, below Heights Vision Center, which housed a combo car service/cigar shop several years ago. A blue tarp is covering much of the area, while new cement has been laid in place beneath the stairs.

Might this be the long-promised tapas & wine bar with a lovely outdoor terrace that BHB reported in January 2012, with interest from Bobby Cruz, former owner of the UPS Store on Montague Street? Since, the grounds behind Andy’s Chinese restaurant, Dashing Diva nail salon and Heights Vision have remained a dumping ground, albeit cleaned to some degree.

We’re watching for signs of building permits; at present, the tarp is shielding the windows, while two entrances as of yet have no postings. Stand by. (Photos: CT)

The back has been cleaned up and will be an open-air extension of the place. I looked in the front a few weeks ago and saw that much of the interior work is finished.
