Robbers CAN Be Choosers

Police are looking for a man who, they say, robbed the Investors Bank at 81 Court St. around 6:00 Wednesday evening.

The suspect allegedly demanded money from two tellers who complied right away, but their “contributions” apparently weren’t enough to appease him. He demanded that they enter the vault and retrieve more cash. $20,000 later, the perp was on his way.

The robber is described as a black male, 25-to-35 years old, 5’6″ to 5’8″ in height, light complexion, thin build, and wearing a blue Yankees hat and a black leather jacket. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).  The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES), then entering TIP577.

It shouldn’t take too long to apprehend this dirtbag, what with the video and all…

A Mets fan would’ve been happy with what he got from the tellers.

    LOL good one Claude !

Where have the morals and values gone? Sorry there are so many without jobs, homes, however, it’s not excuse to rob others of their hard earned monies, possessions or lives, nor is it right to traumatize others due to the perps feeling of entitlement and using an easy way out for either thrills, or greed. Seriously, the laws need to be enforced and upheld, and no plea deals given. Give more attention to the rights of the victims/survivors and not the perps, let them pay for their crimes!

Why did they go to the vault? Tellers are behind bullet proof glass. In addition, they have hotbutons at their stations that they are supposed to press in just such a situation. Hard to believe they couldn’t stall him until police arrived.

Mike R, The best thing to do is get the robber out of the bank before the cops arrive. Otherwise, a hostage situation could develop. The Banks know it’s better to lose a few dollars than a few lives…

@KG: “Where have the morals and values gone?”

Here is a news flash for you KG, crime has been around for a long, long time. Crime is actually at historic lows in New York. We had much higher crime rates in the past. I am glad though that you are firmly in the camp that thinks crime is wrong.

@KG Like Mr. Crusty said. Remember Bonnie & Clyde? Willie Sutton? “Baby Face” Nelson? They all robbed banks… a long time ago. Nothing new here.

  • gc

@Mike R. There is no bullet proof glass at that branch. The tellers are right out in the open.

  • x

they shouldve added bullet proof glass like the other banks. Wasnt this branch under renovation the last few months?

  • Knight

@x: Not really. The “renovation” was just to change the signage and computer systems from those of Brooklyn Federal Savings to Investors Bank, which acquired BFSB earlier in the year.
