Morning Walk Photos: Maritime

On my walk Saturday morning, I found the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Spencer, based in Boston, docked at Port Authority Pier 7 and taking on fuel from the the Circle Line’s little harbor tanker Capt. Log.

Here’s a closer view of Capt. Log; there’s another view, from above, here.

Across from Spencer, docked at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 6, was the intriguingly named launch Knight Life.

I walked up to Pier 1, and there saw Miss New York go by with a full complement of tourists. With Liberty Island closed after Sandy, Statue Cruises has changed its route to show sights along the East River, such as the Brooklyn Bridge, South Street Seaport, and Brooklyn Bridge Park.

    Nice work, Claude.

I would hazard a guess that the boat docked at BBP Pier 6 is the most exciting boat in the harbor. With a name like that it should be a cruise ship.

    Enjoyed the photos. Thanks

  • Diane.

Nice photos Claude. Has there ever been an event whereby all the bloggers and the staff from the BHB can get together in real time to chat? New to the area and just asking?

Hi, Diane. Welcome to the neighborhood. We have had gatherings of BHB staff and readers, including other local bloggers, before. I’m hoping we can have another sometime early in 2013.

@ Diane – we have other plans and are not able to attend the event you are thinking about no thanks

  • Diane.

    Gerry,
I have no idea of what you speak. I made an inquiry, received a reply from Claude and am unclear as to what event Claude may plan, the date or the time so I can’t respond to something uncertain. Sorry.

Diane, Gerry is a nasty troll, best ignored. Either Homer of I will post when we have plans for a gathering which, as I said, I hope will be soon.

Wow Gerry….you know its bad when a neutral party like Claude is giving you a verbal smack-down. Gerry Gerry Gerry Gerry!

Monroe Orange: I’m not neutral respecting the bad turn I think some commenting on this blog has taken. I have no idea what motivated Gerry to post as he did in response to a new resident, but I think it was entirely uncalled for.
