Park Progress

The Pier 5 upland now has a concession stand (left) and a playground (right) adjacent to the “Picnic Peninsula,” a long row of picnic tables sporting blue parasols.

There’s now a stairway from the path that follows the Pier 1 upland to the soon to be installed pedestrian bridge connecting to Squibb Park and Columbia Heights.

I thought the bridge was going to be accessible to disabled people and people in wheelchairs, like our own T.K. Small. But a staircase defeats this purpose.

Andrew: the staircase faces north, but at the south end of the same entrance to the bridge there’s a ramp.
