Yesterday (Thursday) I desperately wanted to go to work (in Manhattan) – a combination of cabin fever and anxious about falling behind. Watched the news – saw the mess at Barclay’s Center, decided it wasn’t worth it. Then saw online that there was another shuttle from Jay Street and at 1:30pm got off my butt and went over there. Not too bad at all. Probably 300 people in line which moved quickly. Took 10 minutes to get on bus and 30 minutes to get to 42nd and 3rd. People were civilized and civil.

On the other hand, returning from Grand Central (to Brooklyn) was impossible. The line on Lexington was thousands of people. I bailed and stayed the night at friend’s house on UWS. Now I am thinking about how to get home. Worried about those lines. Walking sounds kind of cool but I’ve got too much stuff to carry.

I’ve been avoiding the Jay Street shuttle bus lines by walking over the Manhattan Bridge and getting the M15 bus at East Broadway and Allen Street. It’s worked fine for me. The bus gets crowded, but it’s running, and it works.

As to power and water, yes, Brooklyn Heights generally OK, but 360 Furman Street (One Brooklyn Bridge Park) is still without water, and there’s a possibility the power may go, too.

Was trying to get LGA this morning from our neighborhood. I was dreading trying to walk over the bridge/taking the shuttle and trying to piece together public transportation options to LGA.

We stopped by Henry Limo Service to see if they had cars with gas. They did and apparently didn’t read the memo the Attorney General’s office posted about price gouging on transportation services.

They were charging $100 from BKHeights to LGA. We have obviously filed a price gouging complaint about them with the AG’s office and a BBB complaint. Meanwhile, they actually charged us $120 without authorization.

I will never use them again. No other companies were making reservations and we weren’t sure what other car companies to walk to in order to find out about cars (no taxis out on the streets willing to go to LGA either).
