Does anyone have a recommendation as to where to take a desktop computer (Dell pc) for repair that has crashed (dreaded blue screen)?

    Thanks…

  • Prom Gal

    @Mr Cad
We have used LASSEN & HENNIG catering for many years. For office parties, charity events, etc.
The catering dept is super professional and a pleasure to deal with. The food is always very fresh, prepared right before delivery, and very nicely presented. They have a very large selection of items to choose from, great cheese platters, fruit and crudités platters, etc, as well as hot dishes. Everything is included, and I find the prices to be reasonable.
The desserts are delicious, baked on the premises.
The catering office is located above the shop, and you can reach them by calling the L& H number and hitting the catering prompt.

@ Arc – where do you get the the idea that this neighborhood is targeted because we pay tickets? There are ticket blitzes in NYCHA parking lots all the time – if you don’t believe me, try parking there without a sticker. The people who write the tickets couldn’t care less if you pay them or not.

  • Mr. Crusty

Arc stop your whining and either obey the law or pay the ticket. And, no I don’t want the TEA to use “judgement” or discretion. They are to ticket vehicles that are in violation of the posted signs. Period.

Hey when the bike share program gets going you can sell your noisy, smelly, gas guzzling car and do us all favor.

  • HenryLoL

There are MANY garages close by – especially Downtown, where the prices are much lower and its only a 10-15 minute walk. Well worth it if you have the extra bucks. If you dont and still want a car, well…

  • JV

Anyone know what the rules are for community gardens? Isn’t their space only what is inside of their fenced in area and not outside of it. like the curb.

  • Mr. Crusty

@Arc you know I read your posts again and you are really special aren’t you?

II get the whole “right wing” drift in your arguments. Lets enumerate them shall we:

@Arc; “Some of the 52% of us that work…”

Yeah, got it. Right out of the Romney play book, continue….

@Arc: “In other neighborhoods where the average salary might not be as high as BH, I would speculate that tickets are less frequently issued due to the lesser chance of payment resulting from the ticket.”

Really? I see, so we are being picked on because we are hard working Caucasians right? some more please.

@Arc: “this is a problem. Do you not agree? It’s a problem because people are receiving tickets unnecessarily”

No, I don’t agree. The law is quite clear. Obey the law or pay the fine. Pretty simple to me.

@Arc: “It’s also no secret that our neighborhood is targeted because we pay our tickets.”

Yeah, yeah more of this victim nonsense. Poor us.

@Arc: “You are allowing the city to siphon hard earned income off of our residents’

what a drama queen. If you don’t violate the law none of your “hard earned income” would be siphoned off spunky

@Arc: “The city government is not here to tell me how to live. They are here to support the needs of citizens. Siphoning additional income off individuals in a higher income bracket using parking tickets is not right.”

FREEDOM, FREEDOM. I demand freedom. The socialist black helicopter government is taking away our FREEDOMS! We may have to resort to 2nd Amendment remedies to protect our parking spaces.

@Arc: “With respect to municipal strategy, very little differences exist between NYC and Detroit. Detroit is bankrupt because their industry failed and the unions restricted municipalities to the point of suffocation”

Ahhhhh.. the reference to Detroit. [wink, wink]. I think we are starting to get your drift….. different neighborhoods…. 53% that work…. higher income bracket being targeted…. unions destroying the world…..

Let me guess Arc? Do you wear one of those funny tric-cornered hats and nod your head in agreement when someone rants our Kenyan born Muslim socialist President? Must annoy the bejesus out of you that he is whopping Mr. 47% right now.

How someone whining about getting a parking ticket can see it as a great government conspiracy to take hard earned money from the “makers” is something truly special.

@arc You live in the greatest city in the world and you get free parking right in your neighborhood. All you have to do is figure out move your car ONCE A WEEK. When I lived in Manhattan I had to move my car twice a week. You’ve been offered many solutions on this thread that don’t require you sitting in your car in the morning. When I parked my car on the street I would, usually move my car the night before ASP. If I was unable to do that, I would have to park in a garage. I know that I couldn’t move the car during the required time so I took it upon myself to make sure I did beforehand. Eventually the hassle of driving around or paying for overnight parking, not to mention the occasional ticket when I tried to skirt ASP by 30 minutes, stopped making since. It was more time and cost effective to park in a garqge. Luckily I have the choice of several in the neighborhood. My other choice was to get rid of the car.

Face it, free parking is not a right in the city, it is a privilege. Resident parking would be great, but the city councilmen representing commuter neighborhoods that like to park in the Heights will fight tooth and nail against it. So you make your choices. You could always move to a neighborhood that has better free parking if it too much for you to bear.

Lassen & Hennig is fine, but rather expensive for just Boar’s Head sandwiches and above-average baked goods. Tazza actually offers catering now, so they might be worth a try. LPQ caters as well.

@arc, I believe there are 4 parking garages in the nabe. And you are not forced to pay for them any more than you are forced to buy a car. The fundamental problem is simply too many cars and not enough space. There isn’t a hell of a lot the city can do about that. I just use the subway and rent zip cars maybe once a year.

  • ColumbiaHeighster

Monty, what are those four garages? I’m not antagonizing you. Friends/family from out of town often ask where they can park and I’d love to give them garage options. Thanks.

Could of sworn I heard a chain saw last night at 11. possibly could of be dreaming. anyone else hear construction at night by hicks street?

@MrCrusty…thank you for taking the time to eviscerate @Arc’s whining, racially tinged, seeped in The Tea “complaints”. Spot on, on every point which was so labored and pointed in Arc’s “complaint”.
Can’t add anything other than to reiterate…
Arc’s complaining about alternate side parking rules?! Really? I think Arc sounds like he’d be much happier parking in his own driveway in oh, say…Boca Raton?

  • Remsen

I agree completely with Arc. Plus when the street sweepers go by, they are moving so fast that I doubt they are even doing much in the way of sweeping. Would like to know at what speed the sweepers are supposed to driven at…certainly slower than they are….

  • Ari

11 hour ASP regs if anything benefit the working car owner. You move your car by 7am, go to work, come home and then move it back by 6pm. If the streets had a 90 minute ASP timeframe say from 9-10:30 or how it is on Joralemon, 11:30-1, the average car owner is in a much tough situation. You can’t move the car till mid-morning and it must be moved back in 90 minutes. I defintely think the 11 hr window is helpful for most.

The real downside is that in many BK neighborhoods entire street double parking during the 90 minute timeframe is condoned and an accepted practice. I suspect that could be useful in the heights too, but since it’s such a heavily used commuter area as well, I can’t see that ever being implemented around here…..

  • princess

And I “third” in favor of Lassen & Hennigs. They did a LARGE group event for us a few years back and everything was wonderful. Prices are the best too!

Jim, your first computer problem is that you own a Dell.

  • Knight

@ Mr Cad: you may also want to spend a few minutes on freshdirect.com. Depending on what you plan to serve, they may have what you need and their delivery service is great.

  • AmyinBH

Parking ticket ranters: put on your long pants (aka be the adult your driver’s license indicates you are). Obey the rules or pay the fine. simple. You can always go out to the suburbs where there are driveways and parking lots.

  • hicks st guy

@Mr. Crusty. that was quite a post. don’t agree with you often, but this time, yes.

  • Carlotta

Fairway has done an excellent job for me and don’t forget Sahadi’s platters are terrific.

  • Mr. Crusty

@hicks st guy: hey even a broken clock is right twice a day right?

  • Knight

@AmyinBH: “put on your long pants.” How British of you! Love it!

  • Andrew Porter

Has anyone noticed the graffiti on the Plymouth Church building at 75 Hicks Street? The “style” is suspiciously close to that on the red brick building on the NW corner of Middagh and Hicks.

Unfortunately, the person doing this hasn’t been smitten (smote?) by any deities, so it’s up to us to get this b*stard. I’ve notified the BHA.

  • Tim N.

Anyone know anything about a break in at either 66 or 64 Clark this past week? Trying to confirm some rumors. Thanks.
