City Modern Brooklyn Home Tour Sweeps Through Heights Sunday, 10/7

New York magazine and design periodical Dwell are co-sponsoring the City Modern Brooklyn Home Tour, with five renovated homes in Brooklyn Heights and Boerum Hill, on Sunday, October 7. The starting point is Heights’ modular design retailer Module R, 141 Atlantic Avenue (between Clinton and Henry). Architects will be on hand during the tour to discuss integrating modern design into classic architecture.

“We think it sets an excellent tone for the rest of the day,” says Module R owner Donald Rattner. “Our shop has great design pieces, which will hopefully get tour goers excited for more.”

The five homes—detailed here—are: Bond Street Townhouse, Boerum Hill Rowhouse, Brooklyn Heights Townhouse, Warren Street Townhouse and Willow Residence. The tour is part of New York’s week-long City Modern program, beginning October 1.

Tix can be purchased on the day of the event at Module R, or here. A portion of Dwell Home Tour and City Modern proceeds go to non-profit partner Architecture for Humanity. The site here shows photos and details the five tour properties. (Photo: Peter Aaron/OTTO)

Would love to see a report on this tour.

This week’s New York magazine had an extra booklet about these tours. It features an article about two of the houses – the Boerum Hill one and the Brooklyn Heights townhouse which took several years to find and several more to renovate, but what a spectacular renovation!

The Brooklyn Heights Townhouse was on the Brooklyn Heights Association House Tour a couple years ago. Correct that, it was the “Brunch” House for the House Tour.
