City Chemist Welcomes Estee Lauder With Ribbon Cutting & Champagne, 10/5

Brooklyn Heights beauty and wellness boutique City Chemist, at 129 Montague Street and Henry, is launching inclusion of the Estee Lauder brand in its store with the tagline: “Classic Neighborhood, Classic Beauty.” That has a nice ring to it.

The retailer will celebrate the brand’s arrival with a Pink Ribbon cutting ceremony & champagne on Friday, October 5, 2012 at noon. The occasion also marks the 20th anniversary of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, founded by the late Evelyn Lauder. City Chemist will showcase a retrospective of Mrs. Estee Lauder—a native New Yorker and founder of the brand—throughout the month, including vintage compacts on loan from the company’s archives.

    So glad that City Chemist continues to thrive on that corner. These guys have been a great addition to Montague. Everybody who works there is so friendly and helpful. Best neighborhood pharmacy & my go-to spot for good birthday cards. Love them.

    Dear Mr Taylor, I too am glad that City Chemist is doing well. But– Estee is not a “marquis brand” because “Marquis” is a title of nobility in France and I think also England, where the title is “Marquess”. I believe you mean “marquee name,” as in”movie marquee.”

    I daresay Topham Beaucerk has met his share of Marquessess and has an opinion?

    @bklyn20

    As it happens, I’ve met only one, a marchioness.

    But you are quite right; Mr Taylor erred. He should indeed have written marquee.
