Mr. Blackwell, Born in Brooklyn Heights, Dies
Fashion pundit Mr. Blackwell (real name Richard Selzer), born in Brooklyn Heights and raised in Bensonhurst, has died at 86. He was best known for his yearly “Worst Dressed List” and the barbs he tossed at poorly attired celebrities. He once said Elizabeth Taylor, “Looks like two small boys fighting under a mink blanket.”
Pat Morrison blogs in the Los Angeles Times about the anti-icon:
Mr. Blackwell, sardonically surveying the legs of the young woman, encased as they were in pantyhose of the standard color usually described as ‘’suntan,” declared:
”My dear, those hose — they’re just TOO Ann Sheridan.”

I think we can safely say that Mr. Blackwell was of a time–a time when gayness seemed always to include a dose of misogyny.
Bitchy IS forever, but…..
