Open Thread: Wednesday, April 4, 2012

Not only is it Open Thread Day on the BHB, inviting your comments and observations… but on April 4, 1973, the once-consummate view from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade—the World Trade Center complex—held its official opening. The North Tower topped out in December 1970, followed by the South Tower in July 1971. First tenants moved into WTC in December 1970. The ribbon cutting ceremony followed 39 years ago today.

@Not Master of His Own Domain: I just love it when you project yourself onto others. More proof of your douchebaggery. Keep up the good work. Your neighbors have enough evidence to know what you’re all about. Hugs.

    Knight,

Isn’t that sign from Lowy’s takeover of the business?

  • BronxKid

Bh’er – there was a water main break in lower Manhattan this morning. No 1,2 or 3 trains. Was all over the tv and radio news. 2 and 3 service was still slow at 7 p.m. coming back to Brooklyn.

  • Knight

@David … I never noticed it before. It could be that I don’t often look from that angle (75 Henry), but why would that still be up on the marquee after all this time?

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and answers to my questions about the Promenade, etc. When my novel is complete- almost done now…I will post it on the blog. Anyone interested in the late 60’s early 70’s NY will enjoy it…Dianne

Without Master Of Middagh, Publius and Neil, we might actually have a readable thread here!

Don’t get me wrong… I love when the room gets rowdy! Oh, how I miss Topham Beauclerk.

  • Publius

@Master of Disaster: Clearly 2nd grade was a high point in your life and it’s been downhill ever since. Your “I know you are, but what am I?” retorts are pathetic at best. With each post you embarrass yourself, and everyone who reads BHB knows it (including you at some subconscious level). It goes without saying, but your historical postings on this board let every reader know what you’re all about. And it’s very sad indeed. While you’re shaving sometime this weekend, take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself if you planned to become what you are and how things got so wrong.

Lest we let this thread die on this truly silly note, let’s visit a lovely interview with the author of The Phantom Tollbooth and a passing mention of BKH.

    Happy Easter & Passover, everyone.

    hear, here @GHB!

please divert all drivel and ad hominem comments to rants.craigslist.com – where it belongs!

we have neighborhood gossip to worry about here!

@ScheisseMeister: It never fails to amuse me some people’s utter lack of self recognition. You’re a poster child.

Anyone with the inclination can go back and see what you’re all about. That’s the nice thing about the Internet–you can’t deny your own record.

My purpose in calling our your douchebaggery has been because I loathe people like you, who get their pathetic jollies senselessly criticizing and bothering your neighbors. On this particular thread, it was Neil who was the object of your idiocy. There are countless other threads as well on this blog. You can’t hide from your own history and the facts. Sorry “Master”. You should become the master of your own self-control.

Think about that this weekend–why you continuously annoy your neighbors and why as life is short, you waste it in senseless douchebaggery. How about making an Easter resolution to cease being a twit? You’ll feel a lot better about yourself.

  • Publius

Master of Bation: Step away from the Cap lock. I repeat, step away from the Cap Lock. You’re gonna bust a blood vessel, brohem. Anger management class cancelled for the Easter holiday?

Are you in such denial about your douchebaggery that Neil’s call out on your behavior just rolled off your back? And if this was just an isolated incident, fine. But your history (yes, history matters oh ahistorical self deluding one!) proves you to be King Doosh (sic).

You certainly are out of my league brother, thankfully. You’re bush league Troll. And everyone on this board knows it (including you), But you just can’t help yourself, can you. Watch that cap lock! Hugs.

  • Publius

@ScheisseMeister: You’ve got the last word, as no one else is listening. I’m heading out of town for the long weekend and actually having a life. So enjoy stewing in your own juices. And from now on, just think of me as your BHB guardian angel. Proving slight suggestive corrections to your asinine behavior when you annoy your neighbors. Hugs.

Sorry Middagh, It wasn’t for you. I really don’t care what you think.

You were a bit out of control, streetmate. One cop, multiple speeders: not everyone gets pulled over.
