Brooklyn Book Festival Sunday

The Brooklyn Book Festival happens tomorrow (9/14) starting at 10am at the Brooklyn Borough Hall and Plaza. For a full listing of confirmed authors appearing check out the festivals website.  The Brooklyn Eagle reports on a couple of highlights:

Brooklyn Eagle: Book Festival…: Jimmy Breslin and Pete Hamill will be featured in the courtroom, which will also host a panel discussion on the presidential election. Moderated by Brooklyn Rail’s Theodore Hamm, the panel will feature Harper’s publisher John MacArthur and Nation columnists Katha Pollitt and Gary Younge.

Of the many stellar events in the Community Room, the last one features the Sanchez sisters — Linda and Loretta from California — who are the first sisters to ever serve in Congress at the same time. They will discuss the presidential race.

In addition to these venues, major presentations will take place at the St. Francis College auditorium and the ground-floor meeting room at the Brooklyn Historical Society.

And, coming soon to an Atlantic Avenue near you, is a used and antiquarian bookstore — but not one moving from Montague Street:

Yes, 12th Street’s loss is our gain. They’ve been installing gorgeous new bookcases in the place (next to the Fruit and Veg store, just a few storefronts to the left of Sahadi’s) for the last month or so.

I just got home from the Book Fair. Other than being exceedingly hot, it was very impressive. I hope this becomes an annual event.
