That gas lamp is in front of the Henry Street side of the building at the corner of Joralemon, I believe? The same one where people throw coins into the fish pond?

  • Andrew Porter

Oh, wrong. Oh well, hey, first (and second)!

  • Jorale-man

Does anyone have any idea when the city will start removing the parking meters from the neighborhood now that they’ve installed the muni-meters? They’ve been in for several months now and it seems time to retire the old meters. (I think I read in the Times that there’s a big meter graveyard underneath the 59th Street Bridge.)

I have some things that I need to get framed. Any comments or suggestions on the frame shops in town. I know that there are a few.

  • Janeonorange

JV–Jubilee on Henry does a fantastic job–he is a real artist–but he is NOT cheap!

  • ColumbiaHeightster

I was wondering the same thing as JV, but would appreciate an affordable option.

  • PJL

Any recommendations for a good Endocrinologist (for thyroid issues) in the neighborhood?

    Thanks.

  • Wrennie

Montague Arts (just east of Henry) does fine work, but I can’t say I haven’t had cheaper work done elsewhere…not in the neighborhood though.

  • bornhere

I also use Montague for framing. The shop doesn’t have the mood of Jubilee, but I think their work/selection is as good as Jubilee’s — and their prices are more reasonable.

Framing – For quality framing and acid-free matting: Katy Browning at 37 Cranberry St (just off Hicks), 718-834-8801; call ahead as she is not always there. I have used Jubilee for many jobs, also high quality. Montague St framer is excellent for quick and inexpensive framing.

How about that disgusting pile of burnt garbage that’s been sitting on the corner of Henry and Remsen since Sunday night?!?

  • Flashlight Worthy

There’s also a pile of burnt trash at Joralemon and Hicks. Trash can mischief?

  • Matthew Parker

+1 for Browning Frame Shop on Cranberry.

  • epc

Another +1 for Browning for framing.

  • gc

We’ve used Montgue Art (I beieve it’s at 138 Montague).
We were very pleased and the price was right!

  • T.K. Small

I will keep this short and to the point. RadioShack on Montague Street is terrible!

  • A Neighbor

Katy Browning is great. A real pro, very nice, great work. If you tell her what you want to pay, she will tell you what she can do. I have had some excellent work done at modest prices.

  • PennyRC

Um, did anyone else have an issue with the super outside 99 Joralemon this morning?

PennyRC what happened with the Super at 99? I had a relative that live din that building for many years- I wonder if its the same super?

  • JJ

Anyone know the regulations for street work (specifically jackhammer use) during the nighttime?
Last night there was some kind of jackhammer work going on from ~12:15- past 2AM in the Joralemon /Hicks area. Anyone else hear that?

  • Will Pill

Does anyone know whether Girl Scouts will be selling cookies outside of the Montague Key Foods anytime this year?

  • Buddy

Who lives near Henry & Montague? What is with the loud bang noise every few minutes around 6-7am every weekday? Delivery trucks or something? God it’s awful.

  • mlo

Would make alot of sense to have recycle pick up eliminated on Mondays and switched to another day of the week. My recycle pick up day is Monday and there are many Monday holidays througout the year.

  • Teddy

    @mlo

    That’s a good idea.

  • San

I heard the jackhammering on Joralemon. Couldn’t tell where it was coming from..

  • LincolnLogs

PennyRC – I live at 99 J& heard the yelling but couldn’t tell what it was about. It’s actually the super’s father who was yelling. We heard him yesterday AM too.

  • BronxKid

Framing: highly recommend Daphen Art Studio, on Montague, near Clinton, up 1 flight. Very helpful, good prices. Have just had about 5 different things framed there.

  • Happy Neighbor

DId anyone hear anything about a dog named Riley that was lost in front of Gristedes on Monday? The owner was running up Pineapple Street and I was trying to help as well as others. I hope Riley is OK.

  • KT

I am late to the Wednesday thread I know, but I saw 3 or 4 burned garbage cans yesterday morning in the neighborhood, including a burned crib mattress on Joralemon and Hicks. I believe I saw two of the burned trash cans on Henry south of Montague and another on Clinton in the same area. Anyone know what’s going on?
