I would love to get a hold of the woman who used to do the (hilarious) police blotter and who is now making a documentary about accents. Can anyone give me her email (or perhaps her website)? Thanks a lot. (I have a Speech Pathologist friend who is very interested in the doc. subject.)

I like City Chemist too. I was like “wait, you’ll fill my prescription like right now…and you’ll be nice about it….really???”

Obviously not used to good customer service. :-)

Not to get everyone going on Gristede’s, but the pharmacy there is pretty good too/has helpful pharmacists (if you’re closer to the North Heights)….

Big fan of City Chemist. Once I dropped off a prescription and when they couldn’t fill it quickly (it would have had to be ordered in) they called on CVS to fill it and then let me know I could pick it up from them right away. I’ve never heard of a pharmacy giving business away like that. Very friendly, great gifts plus you can bring your dog in as they have treats for them (in the front.) Also, good place for eyebrows…

I’ll also jump in on City Chemist.. they’re so sweet and made me look like a hero with a great Secret Santa gift.

Cat, Bette: you just missed Heather. She was at the Vineapple get-together last night. Her website: http://heatherquinlan.com/

Aww jeez – I had to give up the blotter for a full-time job, but flattery will get youse everywhere. I might try and fit it in with my schedule. Or just give up the full-time job and become a private eye.

    Lori,

Is this one close enough? it’s a beauty.

Speaking of drug stores, I’m always impressed that the local market can support 2 Duane Reades and a Rite Aide within a 3 block radius. I haven’t been to City Chemist but it sounds like it’s worth a try. I keep half-expecting to see another drug store show up in former Jennifer Convertibles space.

  • Knight

@Jorale-man: don’t forget CVS on Henry Street!

  • Cat

Heather, glad you got full time work, but miss your blotter. Better to have full time work these days! The criminals will always be there–not so with jobs.

    Did Grimaldis close for good?

  • Montague St. Neighbor

City Chemist is the best. If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out! They are like a small town pharmacy. They remember you when you call, when you stop in and never leave you waiting. All the big box pharmacies give you a standardized waiting time and City Chemist just fills prescriptions for you while you’re standing there. They also have free pickup and delivery of prescriptions. They are as personalized and personable as it gets. The ironic thing is that if they did make me wait, I probably wouldn’t even mind, because unlike cvs, duane reade etc., they have beautiful unique things for sale. If you are in BH and are still going to the big box stores, it must simply be because you’ve never gone to City Chemist! I can’t figure out why someone would go somewhere else.

  • Still here

Not a creature was stirring…nor a line forming….at Front and Old Fulton – life without a Grimaldi.

It looks like someone stole my christmas package from Amazon this week from my building foyer. Did this happen to anyone before? What is my recourse? Is it just a lost cause?

  • Willow St. Neighbor

    Joe,
I Googled “Amazon lost package” and it appears that Amazon might make good and replace your stolen package as they have done it before.
    e-mail them at: ecr@amazon.com
    (executive customer relations)
    Phone: 1 800-201-7575
Also, there are on-line forms on Amazon that you can fill out.
    Good Luck.

@Knight – very true! I do like the self-checkout registers there (mostly).

On a different topic, I see Brownstoner has a report on the Pier 1 hotel proposals with a thorough breakdown of each one:

Joe, several packages have recently gone missing from my buildings lobby too. My guess is this time of year is prime time for petty thieves as they know there are many packages being delivered… and being left unattended. When you order something make sure you require a signature for it to be released. If you cannot be home when it is to be delivered make arrangements with a neighbor or the super to receive the package. You can also have it delivered to work.

Willow St. Neighbor and Eddyenergizer thanks a bunch. Called Amazon and they refunded the amount. Great customer service. Apparently my neighbor is also missing a package.
