Gandhi Palace Opens Tuesday (9/20)

As BHB commenter “Nancy” pointed out in last week’s OTW:

With the advent of all new restaurant opoenings in Brooklyn Heights comes another one-”Ghandi Palace”[sic]. It is slated to open where Amin was. Hopefully it is not a reincarnation of that place, but a genuinely good Indian restaurant.

A sign in the window heralds its arrival tomorrow (9/20). It’s in the same (140) Montague Street space once occupied by the never-satisfying Amin. With superb Indian offerings from Curry Heights (151 Remsen Street) we hope that this new eatery will rise to the challenge and be a worthy competitor. After all, that’ll be great for everyone… right?

hope this works out better than the “new” fortune house – clearly fortune house is under new management because the food was awful…perhaps first week jitters?

  • greatgazoo

Homer – perhaps in your haste to post, you lost all familiarity with one of the most well-known names in all of modern Indian culture and politics (at least here in West). The name is spelled “Gandhi” – says so twice in the photo, no less. :)

Can’t speak to the food (obviously), but I hope it’s good.

@GG – fixed! Blame it on the high octane java at CT Muffin.

PS – you were awesome on the Flintstones.

God, I hope the service is better than Curry Heights. I have never been treated well at CH. Ever.

Gandhi was a man of simplicity and did not seek material trappings, certainly not one to be associated with a palace.

  • EHinBH

I think the people at CH are great! They have quality food and have very fast delivery.

I’ve never had an issue with service at Curry Heights although I’ve only been there for take out at lunch.

I agree with earlier post, the food at the new Fortune House is terrible and I love Chinese food. Too bad for us in the North Heights.

Don’t worry Regina. I heard that the napkins will be made out of sack-cloths.

  • Big Dave

Curry Heights is awesome!!! And I am not apologizing for the overused adjective.

  • spnder

Curry Heights will do in a pinch, but if you think it’s good Indian food, I’m sorry but you don’t know what good Indian food is.

  • Maestro

Curry Heights is GREAT indian food for “the states.”
